Ancient Egyptian Self-Portraits

Here the children have portrayed themselves as ancient Egyptians. They began by taking photos of each other and then practicing drawing their profile by tracing over their printed photographs.  Next, on brown paper, they drew a border and sketched their self-portrait, utilizing  their knowledge of ancient Egyptian style to choose their clothing, hairstyles and make-up.  To add color, the children chose from colored pencils, oil pastels, or crayons, with touches of gold paint here and there.  The border hieroglyphics contain special messages or names, I am told.  Enjoy!
